This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Chainsaw Man volume 1， containing chapters 1-7 serves as a great hook and introduction to the story， world， and characters。 I really enjoyed it， it had good art， great action， a fascinating hook， a strong hook， great comedy， and interesting characters。 The world is a fairly unique one， taking place in a Cold War Japan， the world is often attacked by beings called devils， beings born from the fear humans have of things or concepts。 As such， devil hunters are employed to kill these devils。 We’re i Chainsaw Man volume 1， containing chapters 1-7 serves as a great hook and introduction to the story， world， and characters。 I really enjoyed it， it had good art， great action， a fascinating hook， a strong hook， great comedy， and interesting characters。 The world is a fairly unique one， taking place in a Cold War Japan， the world is often attacked by beings called devils， beings born from the fear humans have of things or concepts。 As such， devil hunters are employed to kill these devils。 We’re introduced to Denji， our main character。 He’s a boy in poverty who hunts devils with his pet devil， Pochita， to pay off his late father’s debts。 After being killed by a devil， Pochita fuses with him to become chainsaw man。 It’s then that he’s recruited to the public safety devil hunters。 There he meets Aki Hayakawa， a by-the-books devil hunter who’s out for revenge， and Power， the blood devil， recruited by public safety to fight devils。 They’re all awful individuals， but the author shows and tells us why and how they came to be。 And isn’t the whole point of a story for our protagonists to grow and change into better people？Overall， all of the characters are a joy to witness， they’re funny， interesting， and this first volume does wonders establishing who they are and what they want。 There really isn’t much to say， as the plot is only getting started。 The art is fantastic。 The characters are detailed and expressive， and the environments possess a sort of off kilter feel that enforces the ultimately ugly world the characters are inhabiting。 And that’s really what the story is about， ugly（metaphorical） people in an ugly world， all learning what it’s like to be human， growing together， and eventually becoming something like a found family。 All while fighting against the physical representations of aspects of humanity’s true fear/psyche。 I do have to preface， this manga has lots of gory， gross， and generally horny moments。 Gotta remind you that canonically in the series， all of our characters are pretty much terrible people。I loved this book， for all the reasons above， but also just because it’s really fun。 The characters（as stated earlier） are entertaining， the humor usually lands（though it can be a bit degenerate at times）， and the action is some of the most fun on modern Shonen Jump。 Fujimoto was very clearly influenced by the tone and style of classic cinema and that love pulsates throughout not only this but all of his works。 。。。more

The idea is good: an action manga about a human who stays alive thanks to the sacrifice made by his demon friend/pet。 However we end up， at least in this first volume， fight after fight with prototypical character development and the， boring as hell， obsession of the male characters with the female body。I will probably read a couple of volumes more to see if it。。。 well， evolves。5/10（Spanish translation by Judit Moreno）

wowowow this was my first manga ever and i’m so glad i already own the first three volumes。 it was such a fun， quick read， which is exactly what i need rn to get out of this slump， and i can’t wait to catch up （i can， i don’t wanna run out of chainsaw man books to ready and to have to wait for new ones to come out any time soon）
